Hilbert Recreation Ground
Comprising both open sports fields and shady wooded parkland, Hilbert Recreation Ground is a great place to walk and enjoy a natural setting in the heart of Tunbridge Wells.
The two football pitches provide an opportunity to kick a ball around, while the skate park can also be used by BMX riders and for rollerblading. King George’s Field provides a wide expanse of grassland for any number of activities.
If you follow the surface paths, you’ll also find a tranquil zone featuring 5 hectares of ancient woodland including a wetland area which has been designated as a Local Nature Reserve. The abundance of bird and insect life has been helped by the re-introduction of coppicing, carried out thanks to a small army of local volunteers.
Grosvenor Recreation Ground is adjacent to the site, the two together forming a large open area to be explored – to Hilbert’s woodland and open spaces you can add Grosvenor’s play area and duck pond, bowling green, junior sports facilities and cafe.

Access Information
This park and open space have good path networks across the area. Recycled plastic boardwalk has been used to create an all access path through the woodland. This pathway allows for a walk the length of the stream with passing spaces. It is roadside parking only for visitors to the park.
Toilets- Public toilets by the Hub in the main area of the park.
Getting there– Hilbert Woods (Local Nature Reserve)
Meeting point for volunteers is the entrance to the park.
