Capture Medway in Colour Photography Competition

Explore Kent and Explore Medway invite you to take part in a photography competition celebrating the green spaces of Medway!

Whether you are a seasoned photographer or simply love snapping nature on your phone, this is your chance to showcase the parks, woodlands, riversides, and gardens that make Medway special.

Whether you are a keen photographer or someone who enjoys snapping nature on your phone, this competition is open to you. We welcome entries from all skill levels and backgrounds from beginners to experienced photographers. We especially encourage you to take photos during your everyday journeys, before or after work, on the school run, or while out walking or cycling. Active travel is a great way to explore Medway’s green spaces, and we want to see the places you pass through and pause in. Children and young people are warmly invited to take part, and we encourage schools and youth groups to get involved. If you are under 16, a parent or guardian must submit your entry on your behalf.

The competition opens on Friday 17th October 2025. Make sure to submit your entry by 11:59pm on Friday 28th November 2025 to be in with a chance of winning.

Who Can Enter?

This competition is open to everyone, regardless of age, experience, or equipment. Whether you are a seasoned photographer or just starting out with a smartphone, we want to see your perspective on Medway’s green spaces.

You can enter if you:

• You can enter if you live, work, study in Medway or even if you have simply visited one of Medway’s green spaces.

We welcome entries from:

• Individuals of all ages
• Schools and youth organisations

If you are under 16, your entry must be submitted by a parent or guardian on your behalf. We especially encourage schools to get involved and support children in sharing their outdoor experiences creatively.

To make sure your photo is eligible and ready to be showcased, please check that it meets the following criteria. These guidelines help us keep the competition fair, inclusive, and focused on celebrating Medway’s green spaces. Your submission must:

• Taken in 2025
• Clearly feature a green space in Medway (e.g. parks, woodlands, riversides, public gardens)
• Must be original work taken by the entrant
• No identifiable people or faces
• No political, controversial, or offensive content
• No AI-generated or heavily digitally manipulated images
• High-resolution JPEG or PNG format (minimum 1MB, if there are any issues please read below)
• The competition closes at 11:59pm on Friday 28th November 2025. Entries submitted after this deadline will not be accepted under any circumstances.

If you would like to submit up to three photos, please:

1. Complete the Google Form for your first image
2. Email your additional photos to explorekent@kent.gov.uk
3. Include your full name and confirm that you have already submitted the form

If you are under 16, a parent or guardian must complete the form and submit your entry on your behalf.

Under 16s entry form

Photos will be judged by a panel from Explore Kent and Explore Medway based on:

• Creativity and originality
• Composition and visual impact
• How well the image captures and celebrates a green space in Medway

We are delighted to offer a mix of gift experiences and voucher-based awards to celebrate the winning entries in the Medway Green Spaces Photography Competition.

Main Prizes

• 1st Place – £25 voucher + Brewery Tour for four at Shepherd Neame
• 2nd Place – £20 voucher + Afternoon Tea for two at Fort Amherst
• 3rd Place – £15 voucher

Under 16s Prize

• £20 voucher

All winners will be featured on the Explore Kent website and social media channels, and their photos may be used in future campaigns to promote Medway’s green spaces.
