Twydall Walks for Women in Menopause & Perimenopause is a free, gentle wellbeing programme designed specifically to support women experiencing menopause or perimenopause. Delivered at Twydall Library and Community Hub in Gillingham, the sessions take place weekly on Saturday mornings from 10am to 11am as part of a 12‑week programme starting in April 2026. The walks are free to attend, although booking is required due to limited spaces.
The sessions offer relaxed, light walking suitable for all fitness levels, with a strong emphasis on accessibility. Alongside the walking element, there are optional creative activities such as poetry, reflection, and mobile photography, giving women space to engage in a way that feels comfortable for them.
A key aim of the programme is to provide a calm, supportive, and inclusive environment where women can prioritise their wellbeing during a significant life stage. The walks focus on improving mental wellbeing, reducing isolation, and creating opportunities for social connection with others going through similar experiences. There are no fitness targets and no expectation to attend every session, reinforcing the programme’s “come when you can” and no‑pressure approach.
Sessions are led by a trained walk leader who has lived experience of menopause, helping to create a welcoming and understanding atmosphere. The group setting is intentionally friendly and informal, encouraging conversation, peer support, and shared experiences, while still allowing space for quiet reflection where preferred.
The programme is delivered by The Black Art Hub CIC as part of a wider arts and wellbeing initiative, with support from local partners including Medway Council and funding from the National Lottery Community Fund. It is positioned as an opportunity for “me time,” combining gentle physical activity, creativity, and connection to support both physical and emotional health.
