We’ve got some great news for park lovers—eight of Medway’s green spaces have once again bagged the prestigious Green Flag Award! That’s right, these parks are officially among the best in the country when it comes to being clean, safe, and welcoming.

Here’s the fab eight that made the list:

These awards aren’t just handed out anywhere—they’re a big thumbs-up to the amazing teams who work all year round to keep these spaces looking their best. From council staff and volunteers to local groups and organisations who make a real community effort.

And there’s more good news! The Great Lines Heritage Park has also picked up a Green Heritage Site Accreditation, thanks to its efforts in preserving and promoting its historic features. Big win!

Cllr Simon Curry summed it up perfectly: “It’s so important for people to have access to great green spaces, and here in Medway we’ve got loads to choose from. These awards are a real credit to everyone who helps keep our parks in top shape. With the summer holidays coming up and the sun finally making an appearance, now’s the perfect time to get outside and enjoy them!”

Paul Todd MBE, who manages the Green Flag Award scheme, added: “Congratulations to everyone involved in Medway’s green spaces who have worked tirelessly to ensure that they achieved the high standards required for the Green Flag Award.

“Quality parks and green spaces make the country a heathier place to live and work in, and a stronger place in which to invest.

“Crucially, there are vital green space for communities in Medway to enjoy nature, and during the ongoing cost of living crisis it is a free and safe space for families to socialise.

The Green Flag Awards are managed by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, and they set the benchmark standard for parks and green spaces across the UK and beyond.

So, why not grab your walking shoes, pack a picnic, and go explore one of Medway’s award-winning parks—you won’t be disappointed.
