Explore Kent with the Kent Connected app!

Today, we are excited to announce that all Explore Kent walking and cycling routes are now available on the Kent Connected app.

The free app includes an exciting journey planner that empowers you to make smarter travel choices which are healthier for you, kinder to the environment and will save you time and money.

To access the Explore Kent walking and cycling routes within the app, simply open the app on your smartphone and choose “Be Inspired with Explore Kent” to open the activity map.

Need some inspiration on where to walk next for your daily exercise?

The easy to use interactive map with a new Public Rights of Way layer allows you to explore public footpaths near to your home. Zoom in on the interactive map by tapping the layers button on the left of the map, the broken red lines highlight the rights of way nearest to you.

GPS technology finds your location on the map automatically, at the bottom of the screen you will be able to see your nearest Explore Kent walking and cycling routes. Scroll through each route and you will be able to see its location on the interactive map.

You can also select another area on the map, by scrolling to it and tapping the “Search this area” box to bring up the nearest Explore Kent routes.

Simply tap your screen to select your chosen route and you’ll see an outline on the map of where the route takes you, the activity type, distance and description of the route. This is handy if you are looking for a specific type of walk such as a route suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.

You can follow the route using a GPS tracker (offline mode coming soon)

You can then download the route as a GPX file to follow in another app e.g. to record your journey in a fitness app.

Link with the Kent Connected journey planner which will give you a choice of sustainable travel options with detailed information on directions to take if cycling or walking or taking public transport to the start point.

Kent Connected is available on the App Store and Google Play and is perfect if you want to discover new places to explore right on your doorstep.
