Tonbridge Racecourse Sportsground
Located right in the heart of Tonbridge, next to Tonbridge Castle and set between two meandering branches of the River Medway, the Racecourse Sportsground is a large 69 acre site that benefits from a huge open area and a wide range of sports and leisure facilities.
Tonbridge Racecourse Sportsground is the ideal location for an active family day out. Its play facilities, crazy golf, sports pitches, miniature railway, skate park are in almost constant use over the summer, and the park is a great base for longer walks out into the countryside (including towards the nearby Haysden Country Park). Drinks and snacks are available in summer, and there are plenty of car parks nearby.
There are long surfaced paths circling the whole of the park, both along the banks of the river and through woodland. Both the Eden Valley Walk and the Weald Way Walk national trails pass nearby the site, taking you further out into the charming countryside around Tonbridge. The Tonbridge to Penshurst Cycle Route, meanwhile, passes by near the rugby club pavilion.
The sports pitches at the Sportsground (football, rugby, baseball, bowls and cricket) are used by a wide variety of clubs, and there’s also a swimming pool nearby, making this town centre location a real gem for anyone wanting to get fit.
