The aim of Cyclopark, a brand new facility for cycling, skating and running, is to be one of the leading multi-sports centres in the south of England. All kinds of cycling are well catered for here: there’s a 2.9km tarmac course for road bikes, a 330 metre first-class race track for BMXs, and 6 kilometres of track for mountain biking designed by World Cup trail designer Hugh Clixby.
Cyclopark’s smooth, 6 metre wide tarmac circuit is perfect for races, coaching sessions and training and general fitness rides, as well as for running. It can be separated into smaller circuits, and this flexibility means that many sports, from wheelchair racing to slalom skateboarding, can be enjoyed here.
The floodlit Cycloskate skate park was created by leading skatepark designers with input from local skaters to make sure it offers a real challenge, and comes complete with a spectator area.
There are also waymarked cycle trails leading out from Cyclopark into the wider countryside.
The park features an extensive range of play equipment, so younger kids can be kept entertained while other members of the family get on their bikes. Cycle hire is available, while hot and cold drinks and food are available from Cyclocafe, located in the fantastic modern main building next to the entrance.
