Bedgebury
Discover Bedgebury near Tunbridge Wells where it is home to an award winning visitor attraction with something for everyone. Bedgebury is open all year round so is the perfect place for a winter stroll. It has 12,000 specimen trees with landscapes that encourage peaceful walks in the rolling valleys of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. King’s Wood
King’s Wood lies within the heart of the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Beauty and offers 1500-acre of forest for you to enjoy. It is one of Kent’s largest woodlands managed by the Forestry Commission and the Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership for recreation, conservation and timber production. Some of the wood’s highlights include sweet chestnut coppice, beech woodland, corsican pine and Douglas fir. A marked trail leads you round the sculptures in King’s Wood which takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete.
Blean Woods
If you are looking to get away from it all then Blean Woods is your place. It is a wonderful destination for a quiet and peaceful walk in a picturesque and ancient woodland. There a many trails to explore with the longest taking you on a 25 mile circular walk through all The Blean woodlands. The walk, combined with 18 new interpretive panels, promotes The Blean to visitors and locals, inviting people to explore a world of history and nature. Perry Wood
Perry Wood is a local wildlife site based in Selling and Chilham parishes. It is used mainly for wildlife conservation and quiet recreation. The landscape is part of the Kent Downs AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) with breathtaking panoramic views. The woodland has a mixture of coppiced chestnut, native broadleaved woodland and conifer plantation encouraging a variety of wildlife. Clowes Wood
Clowes Wood has endless opportunity for adventure for all with their wide network of paths available on either foot, bike or horseback.It is one of several woods in The Blean Woods complex that covers eleven square miles, to the north of Canterbury. It has a variety of mature birch and coniferous trees with the woodland covering a total area of over 236 hectares. The Crab and Winkle Way, a cycle and walking trail running between Whitstable and Canterbury, also passes through Clowes Wood and the trail has a popular resting point and picnic area within the woods.
Beacons Wood Country Park
Beacon Wood Country Park is a woodland in Bean near Dartford that has become a firm favourite with locals due to its rolling, varied woodland and interesting history. For over 400 years it was ancient hilly woodland, whose trees supplied timber for various uses. Seasonal ponds in the lower part of the old pit create perfect breeding grounds for colourful dragonflies as well as newts and frogs to discover.
