Explore Ramsgate with this canoe trail taking you past beautiful bays and the famous White Cliffs of Ramsgate!
Get close to nature and go wild in Ramsgate exploring some of the most precious and dramatic landscapes in Kent by canoe!
This interesting seascape route of 2 miles begins in the vibrant coastal town of Ramsgate and ends in the traditional and pretty seaside resort of Broadstairs, taking in the undeniable beauty of the White Cliffs of Ramsgate which have been eroded to a smooth surface over years of tidal wear and tear. Ramsgate is home to the UK’s only Royal Harbour and it is here where you will find the arches – an unmissable opportunity to sample locally made food in one of the cafes or restaurants there.
The canoe trail starts at the Marina Esplanade and takes you out to Dumpton Bay – you will pass through some amazing seascapes and pretty bays. The end point is Broadstairs which has oodles of Victorian charm and was frequented by Charles Dickens.
Being a responsible canoeist
The Thanet coast is part of the NE Kent Marine Protected area – an internationally important place for wintering birds and marine life. Responsible canoeists protect vital bird and wildlife habitats by observing the coastal code – leaving the coast how you would expect to find it is the best way of sticking to the code to avoid any unwanted damage to this precious coast line.
