Barton’s Point Coastal Park

Barton’s Point Coastal Park is an attractive park with walking trails, cycle paths and bridle ways. The lake is available for fishing, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and canoeing, and fishing permits can be purchased from The Boat House Café. The Sheerness Way cycling route runs through the park and along Queenborough Lines. This water filled ditch fortification was originally built in the nineteenth century to protect the dockyard from attack and is known locally as Canal Bank. Barton’s Point is also home to the Sheppey Model Engineering Society offering miniature steam train rides and a field for flying model aeroplanes. The pitch and putt golf course, and the pirate themed children’s adventure play area is popular with families all year round. During the summer season the park has a designated area for camping, with changing rooms, toilets and shower facilities. The Boat House Café offers breakfast, lunches, ice creams and refreshments and is open seven days a week throughout the year.
