Shorne Woods has all you could ask for from a country park, and as a result is one of the most popular outdoor spaces anywhere in the region. The long list of things to see and do here includes the eco-friendly visitor centre and café, a sensory garden, orienteering, fishing lakes, a trim trail and picnic and play areas – not to mention to 288 acres of rolling woodlands, wetlands and meadows that can be explored via a variety of waymarked trails.
Historically part of the pleasure grounds of the Cobham Hall Estate, the area was used for clay extraction for the local cement industry from the 1920s to the 1970s. These clay pits are now the flat grassy areas where the picnic and play areas and visitor centre are sited.

A lot of effort has gone into making the park as accessible as possible – electric ‘Tramper’ mobility vehicles are available for hire, while there’s a special horse riding and cycle path route around the site.
There are a number of other colour-coded waymarked trails too including the 1 mile easy access route perfect for wheelchair users and for buggies too!

Did you know you can do this at Shorne Woods Country Park too?
