Explore Pegwell Bay and Walk to Ramsgate

Explore this stretch of the England Coast Path which starts at the far end of the Pegwell Bay Country Park nature reserve at Ebbsfleet roundabout. A 4 mile linear walk along the coastline but before setting off enjoy the nature at Pegwell Bay, offering a welcome start to your walk with toilets and a lovely cafe.

The foreshore and mudflats of Pegwell are home to a huge variety of water birds and in the summer the grass is dotted with wildflowers. Continue along West Cliff Promenade and your walk finishes at Ramsgate Obelisk; it’s easy to find at the Harbour Parade right outside the Royal Victoria Pavillion.

Stop off in Ramsgate for a bite to eat, choose from a variety of cafes and restaurants. We have heard great things about The Gallery restaurant which overlooks the harbour, it’s  a small but very quaint place serving breakfast, local dishes and a delicious lunch snack menu.

Sea It All From Ramsgate to Broadstairs

Enjoy a 5 mile circular walk from Ramsgate Harbour to Broadstairs, taking you an average of 2.5 hours for the circular walk and 1.5 hours for one way. Mainly surfaced paths with some beach walking. Steps allow access to higher path at high tide and this route includes some moderate slopes. There’s plenty to enjoy along this route including King George VI Memorial Par and it’s spectacular glass greenhouse. End at Viking Bay, a jewel on The Isle of Thanet, this magnificent horse shoe shaped stretch of 150 meter long sand filled beach is a rare treat that really shouldn’t be missed.
