Cycle the Crab and Winkle Way
Start your morning off with a relaxing cycling along The Crab and Winkle Way, with seven miles of almost traffic-free cycling what’s not to love? This route explores a delightful slice of east Kent, packed with history and nostalgia.
The route caters for riders of all abilities and takes its name from the pioneering railway line which ran between Canterbury and Whitstable from the early part of the 19th century.
An idyllic rest point could be the conifer-dominated woodlands of Clowes Woods. It is one of several woods in The Blean Woods complex, to the north of Canterbury.

Check out this unique restaurant in the heart of Whitstable, specialising in sourcing locally farmed produce and this is a family run buzzy High Street kitchen (and if you’re wondering, the ‘Harper’ is a family name!). There is even an outside terrace for those warmer summer days.

Then take a wander around the quintessential English gardens of Whitstable Castle, once known as Tankerton Towers. Today you can take afternoon tea or simply walk around its well-kept gardens and manicured lawns.

For a truly seaside experience what better than to dine in a pub on the beach. The Old Neptune dates back to the early 19th Century and is one of only a handful of pubs to be found on the beaches of Britain.
Literally on the pebbles in-between the sea and the shore is this popular pub offering a wonderful selection of local ales, a extensive wine list and delicious home cooked food, all whilst gazing out at the sunset, if you’re lucky.
