Cycle the Tudor Trail
Start your morning off with a delightful ride along the Tudor Trail which is a short 5.3 mile (8.6km) ride from the heart of Tonbridge, along the River Medway to Penshurst. A quaint village which is centred around Penshurst Place, formerly owned by King Henry VIII. You’ll noticed when pedalling through the small village there are many Tudor looking buildings but some are actually Victorian.
This route offers an excellent mostly off-road ride passing by Haysden Country Park, which a couple of on road sections but along quiet country roads. The cycle is an easy one along flat terrain making it a perfect ride for the family, with friends, or by yourself. To get those legs pumping there is just the one hill as you leave Penshurst Place.

Located just outside of the visitor entrance of Penshurst Place, the Porcupine Pantry is the perfect place for walkers, cyclists and visitors to the house and gardens to stop off for some lunch, all through the year. Take the afternoon to explore a little bit of history with a trip to Penshurst Place. The house, gardens and the surrounding estate have stood in the historic village of Penshurst since the 14th century, when the awe-inspiring medieval Baron’s Hall was completed in 1341 as a country retreat for the Lord Mayor of London. The stately home and gardens were once used as a hunting lodge for King Henry VIII.
There is a woodland trail and adventure playground for the little ones to explore.
