Volunteering is not only crucial to the success of most sports clubs, events and organisations, it’s a hugely rewarding experience for volunteers themselves. Volunteering gets you close to the action, meeting new people and playing your part in making sport happen.

Volunteering in sport can take many forms – from helping an event run smoothly by stewarding a venue or marshalling a course, to coaching or officiating, to lending a hand with administration or day-to-day maintenance at a club or venue. Whatever sport you’re into, or if you’re keen to try something new, there’s sure to be a volunteering opportunity in Kent for you.

Currently, as many as 3.5 million people volunteer in sport across the UK, but 7 out of 10 sports clubs and groups say they need more volunteers! Research has shown that a sports volunteer can provide a sports club or group with the extra capacity to welcome an average of 9 new members. So what are you waiting for?!

There are loads of opportunities to volunteer in sport across Kent, and Kent Sport can help you find out about them and get involved. Visit Kent Sport volunteering or visit and “like” the Kent Sport Volunteering Facebook page at facebook.com/kentsportvol for information on local events, volunteer news and volunteering requests.

Kent Sport is also working with Join In, a new campaign developed to encourage volunteering, enable volunteers to show their support for local sport, and help sports clubs and organisations fulfil their volunteering requirements. Visit joininuk.org to search for volunteering opportunities in your local area.
