Do you have a passion for wildflowers, wildlife gardening and the smells of meadows in summer?

Our Wildflower ID workshops are perfect for you! Come and spend a morning around our unique nature reserve with a knowledgeable guide to teach you how to spot and identify wildflowers of all different varieties, their benefits to pollinators and the ecosystem and how to garden for wildlife effectively at home.

Dungeness is home to over 600 plant species, which is roughly a third of the total species found in the UK. Many are specially adapted to the captivating and unique habitat found at Dungeness.

Your guide through this wild landscape is floral expert, Heather Silk. Author of, ‘Wildflowers of Kent Downland’ which is out of print, co-author of ‘Wildflowers of Dungeness’ which you can find in our shop and a former associate tutor for the field studies council, Heather will share her knowledge and expertise on the wonderful array of stunning plant species found on our reserve. Use your newly gained skills to identify the species as you are guided around the trails and discover a whole world you never knew existed.

The workshop and guided walk will finish up in our wildlife garden, where you will gain tips on wildlife gardening and learn the benefits of giving nature a home in your own garden. Wildflower seeds are also available for purchase within our visitor centre as well as Heather’s book, ‘Wildflowers of Kent Downland’.
