WESTERN HEIGHTS OPEN WEEKEND

The Drop Redoubt and Grand Shaft will be open to the public.  Napoleonic and Second World War re-enactors will be carrying out skirmishes, parades, drills and demonstrations throughout the weekend.  There will also be a Napoleonic camp showing what life was like for an early nineteenth century soldier.

In addition there will be various other stalls and displays including one from the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership along with their Wildlife of the Walls quiz.

CHARGE: For entry to Drop Redoubt – £5 adults, accompanied children free. Entrance to the Grand Shaft is free.

LEADER: Western Heights Preservation Society.

MEET: Drop Redoubt Road, Western Heights, Dover (TR 317 409).  Walk to the site following the signs from the town, use the Grand Shaft staircase (Snargate Street) or parking on the sports field on Citadel Road.

We do recommend sturdy footwear as there are many stairs and uneven surfaces throughout.  As a result, it is unfortunately unsuitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.

For more information visit the Dover Western Heights website or Dover Tourist Information Centre (01304 201066).
