Shaun in the Heart of Kent
Following the success of Elmer’s Big Heart of Kent Parade in 2021, we are excited to announce we are bringing a second art trail to Maidstone and the surrounding area from 29 June to 30 August 2024. We can reveal our second art trail will feature another iconic and much-loved character – Shaun the Sheep! Named ‘Shaun in the Heart of Kent,’ we’re delighted to be partnering again with Wild in Art, the leading producer nationally and globally of these spectacular art events, and Aardman, the world-famous, award-winning studio based in Bristol, and creator of the cheeky and lovable character Shaun the Sheep. Maidstone Borough Council will be the Official Presenting Partner of the trail.
The free, family-friendly art trail – a collaboration between Heart of Kent Hospice, Wild in Art, Aardman and Official Presenting Partner Maidstone Boroguh Council, will see up to 50 large individually decorated Shaun sculptures placed around the parks, town centre and river walks in Maidstone and the surrounding areas.
The trail runs until Friday 30 August and the uniquely decorated sculptures will deliver a ton of fun and laughter this summer and attract local residents and visitors from far and wide to discover, and re-discover the town, making art accessible to all.
Each Shaun the Sheep sculpture will be designed and painted by local and national artists and will be accompanied by a flock of little Shauns decorated by local schools and community groups.
At the end of the summer each of the large sculptures will be auctioned to raise funds for Heart of Kent Hospice, enabling us to continue to provide outstanding Hospice care and support to local families.
