On 14th July, our journey commences from the quaint village of Newington, nestled just outside Sittingbourne. Our path will traverse Watling Street, its name signifying “Paved,” a historic road initially tread by the ancient Britons, later extended by the Romans to connect with Wales. Progressing onwards, we’ll navigate towards Lower Halstow, situated along the serene banks of the Medway Estuary, before retracing our steps through the picturesque countryside.

We will be meeting outside of Newington Village Hall, High Street Newington, Lower Halstow ME9 7JJ (behind the carwash and only a short walk from the station) at 09:15am for a 09:30am prompt start. Please note that there is limited parking at the village hall, but on road parking is available throughout the village. Please Park responsibly. Please note that car parking charges are not included.

Our excursion will last approximately 3.5 – 4 hours, covering around 12 kilometres, with a break for lunch (lunch not provided) along the way. The cost to participate is £5 per person. If you can kindly let us know if you are running late, otherwise the walk will leave on time.

Meeting time – 9:15am ready for a 09:30am prompt start.

Terrain – mostly flat

Distance – approximately 12 km (7.5 miles approx)

Walking time – 4 hours walking (with lunch break in the middle)
