In the morning there will be a classroom session which will include the following: Classification of our native trees and shrubs Sorting through specimens and getting to grips primarily with the terminology of the different shapes of leaves. Use of different keys to identification. During the afternoon there will be a fieldwork session which will be mostly outside in the Tyland Barn nature park putting into practice what has been covered in the morning. It is expected that participants will feel confident by the end of this course to: identify most native trees and shrubs using features of their leaves understand the classification of our native trees and shrubs use simplified keys Led by Ros Bennett, Botanist.
