Inspired Palmer Silk Painting Workshop
Bring a postcard, photo or painting of a local landscape as inspiration for a hands-on have-a-go batik silk painting workshop
- 1.30pm - 4.30pm
Bring a postcard, photo or painting of a local landscape as inspiration for a hands-on have-a-go batik silk painting workshop led by Kinetika artists. You will learn to scale up your drawing and transfer it on to silk using wax and colourful silk dyes.
In this workshop artists from Kinetika will introduce the Inspired Landscapes project and through a range of creative activities including writing, drawing, photography and silk painting will work with participants across the Valley to start to think about stories and personal connections to the landscape, using Samuel Palmer’s paintings as inspiration.
The Inspired Palmer Landscapes project is an exciting and engaging creative project which will work with communities to explore, reveal and celebrate the stories of individual places and local landscapes of the Darent Valley. Creative workshop events will draw together communities and individuals to investigate the history that has shaped the Darent Valley. Stories will be communicated through a variety of creative forms, inspired by Samuel Palmer’s connection with the valley. This project will culminate in a celebration event in spring / summer 2021 to enable the wider community to enjoy and learn about the Darent Valley’s heritage and celebrate their own heritage connections to the landscape.
Join artists from Kinetika to share and capture your stories, memories and personal connections to the Darent Valley landscape. You can do either or both workshops, click here for the morning workshop.
Bring a packed lunch.
Kinetika is a Purfleet based arts organisation and we are working with the Darent Valley Landscape Partnership Scheme to deliver the first part of the Inspired Palmer Landscapes project.
