It is part of the Dover to Kingsdown Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and part of the Kent Downs AONB.

Volunteer conservation tasks this winter will mostly include clearing scrub and invasive trees to keep grassland routes open for wildlife; and maintaining fences, gates, footpaths and steps for people in this lovely nature reserve.
