Take a slow walk up and around the slopes and ditches of the Western Heights fortifications and nature reserve. Stopping to look and learn about bats – these wonderful, furry, flying mammals.

Please bring a torch.

Wear shoes or boots with good grip.

Please bring a Bat detector if you have one. Or, you can have a try of the leader’s detector.

MEET:  Albany Place car park, (pay and display) (off York Street and off Durham Hill), Albany Place, Dover CT17 9AU. DISTANCE: 1 mile (2 hours).

GRADE: 5 (Difficult walks e.g. rocky shores or night walks – Steep steps; night/dark).
