1584 brick mansion (open for tours) and parkland of historical importance, now a boarding and day school for girls. Some herbaceous borders, formal parterres, drifts of daffodils, C17 garden walls, yew hedges and lime avenue. Humphry Repton designed 50 hectares of park, most garden follies restored in 2009.

Combined with tours to the Darnley Mausoleum. Film location for BBC’s Bleak House series and films by MGM and Universal. ITV serial The Great Fire. CBBC filmed serial 1 & 2 of Hetty Feather.

Admission £2.50, children free. Home-made teas in the Gilt Hall.
