  • 5 Aug 2018
  • 10am - 5pm (1pm - 5pm for those joining at Samphire Hoe)
  • Capel-le-Ferne

The walk is being led by poet and writer Chris Poundwhite and takes in 5 of the 9 structures forming the CHALKUP21 art and architecture trail starting at The Wing at the Battle of Britain Memorial in Capel-le-Ferne and ending at the North Downs Way Start/Finish line on Dover’s Esplanade. The walk is a collaboration between the Kent Downs AONB Unit and Dover Arts Development to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Kent Downs AONB and the 40th anniversary of the North Downs Way.

The event is open to poets and writers whether established or aspiring and participants will need a notebook and something to write with. There will be a chance to perform the works inspired by the trail at a poetry event at Samphire Hoe in September.

There is car parking at the Wing at the Battle of Britain but please note that the car park closes at 5pm. We recommend using the regular Wave bus service from Folkestone Central and Dover Priory that stops outside the Battle of Britain National monument.

Please wear good walking boots and weather appropriate clothing and bring a packed lunch with you. For more information about this walk, please contact:
