Discuss the future of cycle forum
Wednesday 23rd November 2016
19:30-21:30 (Meeting starts at 20:00)
Come along to our meeting to discuss the future of the Cycle Forum and find new people to take it forward into 2017 and beyond. We are particularly keen to bring in more women, and parents who want safer routes for their children to cycle to school and at weekends.
Our provisional agenda:
— Briefing on our campaign for safe cycling in Sevenoaks from 2009 to date.
— Adrian Berendt (Tunbridge Wells) on progress in our neighbouring borough’s campaign for safe cycling.
— Discussion on tactics — how to take forward the 2012 Cycle Strategy for the district and get it implemented.
— Future of the Cycle Forum — should we move to a more formal structure with membership and elected committee? Reg Oakley and I are hoping to find a small group of keen volunteers to take over from us and continue exerting pressure on local government.
The fifth anniversary of the unimplemented Cycle Strategy falls due next March and we want to use this anniversary to inject some movement into the process of making Sevenoaks a safe place to cycle, not just for experienced riders but for future generations. If you want to read the Cycle Strategy and its proposed routes, it is on the transport pages of the Sevenoaks District Council website.
