Bedgebury BioBlitz 2016
Friday 19 August & Saturday 20 August
After the success of Bedgebury National Pinetum’s first event in 2014, join them for their second BioBlitz!
This great outdoor family event will be used to find and identify wildlife. In a 48 hour race to record as much wildlife as possible, you will be able to join the Bedgebury team, along with wildlife experts, to help look for and record the birds, bats, mammals, insects, reptiles, butterflies and plants that live in the Pinetum.
Everything you find will be written down to make a ‘species record’ which will feed into national databases that monitor our wildlife – citizen science in action!
BioBlitz is a fabulous hands-on wildlife experience, and the whole family will be able to get involved in all kinds of fun and exciting activities and learn how to find and identify the wildlife right on their doorstep.
From wild flower walks and bug hunting, to bat detecting and birdwatching – there is something at a BioBlitz for everyone and no expertise is necessary!
Over the two days, there will be lots of activities that families can just come along to and join in, but there will also be some guided walks that you will need to book on to.
Events and activities will take place right across the Pinetum.
Visit the Bedgebury events page for details of what the walks are and how to book, as more information becomes available.
Dogs are welcome at Bedgebury but as BioBlitz will take place in the Pinetum, they must be kept on leads at all times, and they may not be allowed on some of the guided walks.
