Ashford Cycle Sale
Affordable refurbished bikes are being offered in a new initiative by Kent County Council in partnership with Cycle Community CIC.
This has been funded through the DfT access fund. The scheme will be officially launched at Goldwyn School in Ashford on Saturday July 8.
Sale events will be held across the County over the next 3 years. 25 of these will be at the Goldwyn School, on Godinton Lane, Great Chart (near Ashford), where students have been trained in refurbishing the bikes.
KCC’s Cabinet Member for Planning, Highways, Transport and Waste Matthew Balfour said “What we’re asking is for people to donate unwanted bikes and we then do them up and sell them on providing people with affordable bicycles. We are funding the project and the events and repairs are being carried out by Cycle Community and the Goldwyn School.”
People can donate a bike, whether one that’s now too small or not being used, and get a 20% discount at the bike sale.
They can be dropped off at the Goldwyn School or call Spencer Morgan on 07762221024 to arrange pick-up in the Ashford/Maidstone area.
