A Riverside historical stroll at Upnor
On 28th April we will be strolling along the River Medway near Upnor.

On 28th April we will be strolling along the River Medway near Upnor.
The walk will start at Upnor Castle car park at Upnor (Upnor Castle Car Park, Upnor Road, Rochester ME2 4UP). We will then make our way through the picturesque village and have a look at the castle. Then we will head along the Saxon Shore Way taking in Cockham Wood Fort and sights of Chatham Dockyard. We will make our way back to Upnor through fields and farms.
Along the way we will hear tales of dastardly Dutchmen nicking the King’s ships, murderers whose horrendous deeds have been turned into films and bickering fishermen.
** Car parking charges are NOT included **
The walk will take approximately four and a half hours (around 10.9KM) with a lunch spot (lunch not included) of around half an hour and will cost £7 per person.
Meeting time- 9:15am ready for a 9:30 start
Terrain- there are some steep inclines.
Distance- approximately 10.9Km (6.8 miles)
Walking time- 4 and a half hours walking

Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly and will go on a lead when required such as entering fields of livestock.
If we can we ask everyone to bring with them:
A- Suitable footwear )strong shoes or boots preferably walking boots no Flip-flops)
B- A waterproof coat (and waterproof trousers) in case of rain
C- Drinking water and lunch
D- Personal medication (please make me aware in confidence of any medical condition you may have that may affect you in the walk no matter how small)
E- Suitable walking clothing There might only be natural toilets along the way (a bush)
**IMPORTANT** PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU HAVE ANY COVID SYMPTOMS -We do take pictures to our walks for promotional and training purposes. If you do not wish to be included please let us know on the day.
