A guided and illustrated walk based on Walk 8 of ‘A Rich Seam’. The walk takes you through our industrial past, following the route the miners took to Tilmanstone Colliery.
Walk through what was the pit yard, visiting remains of the East Kent Light Railway and abandoned Elvington Halt platform on the way. On to Tilmanstone village, its church and past North Court and Dane Court (once homes to the Rice family), past Thornton Farm and the remains of Knowlton Halt, returning along the Downs to the Community Centre for a cup of tea, mug of soup and a roll.
