A Georgian Christmas at Quebec House
- 23 Nov 2024
- 11am-2pm
- Westerham
House opens weekends 23 November to 22 December, normal admission applies
On weekends in the run-up to Christmas, the doors to the childhood home of General James Wolfe, victor of the Battle of Quebec (1759), will be thrown open for a Georgian Christmas party.
Discover a sumptuous Georgian feast and wonderous gingerbread models of Quebec House and the Coach house. Hear the sounds of a dinner party and imagine the elaborately styled wigs on display belonging to fellow party guests. Roaring fires and parlour games add to the authentic, cosy atmosphere, with greenery around every banister and mantlepiece inspired by festive traditions of the period.
In the kitchen, our volunteers prepare delicious bakes, inspired by the cookbook of Wolfe’s mother, Henrietta. Head over to the Coach House for a taste of Mrs Wolfe’s hot chocolate and a mince pie. Plus:
• Christmas after-hours: Quebec House opens its doors after hours on 28 November, 4pm to 6:30pm as part of Westerham’s annual festive celebrations. Take in the lights, greenery and Georgian party atmosphere. Enjoy a taste of hot chocolate as you listen to young carol singers in the garden. Father Christmas will be switching on the Christmas lights in Westerham at 6pm.
