Local artist Rachel Ella Taylor and a team of local marine biologists and NEKMPA Coastal Wardens help you to explore the exciting world of bioluminescence on the coast of Thanet.

This is a hands-on event that combines marine biology and art, participants will take part in a live scientific experiment to co-create a piece of art that will be displayed in Turner Contemporary. Meet at Turner Contemporary and then take a guided walk along the coastline with coastal wardens and collect sea water samples.

Samples will be examined using handmade microscopes and create microscopic photographs in Turner Contemporary.

Through interacting with bioluminescent plankton and taking part in art activities, including glow in the dark marbeling and screen printing plankton samples, each group will collectively create a piece of public art that will be installed on the façade of Turner Contemporary facing the ocean.
