The Summer Reading Challenge turns wild!

Get ready for Wild World Heroes, this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, arriving online and in Kent Libraries this summer from Saturday 10 July to Saturday 11 September 2021.  

The Summer Reading Challenge is open to all primary school-aged children and is designed for all reading abilities. Children can sign up for free at their nearest open library. Not a member of the library yet? Join your family online today.

The Summer Reading Challenge, presented by The Reading Agency and funded by Arts Council England, encourages children aged 4 to 11 to set themselves a reading challenge to help prevent the summer reading ‘dip’. Children can read whatever they like in their chosen format: fiction, fact books, poetry, joke books, picture books, graphic novels, audiobooks and e-Books can all be used to complete the Summer Reading Challenge. Children receive special rewards as they progress and there’s a certificate and medal for everyone who completes the Summer Reading Challenge.

This year’s theme is Wild World Heroes, helping children discover ways to make their area even better for the people and animals that live there. Look out for activities and events throughout the summer on the Kent Libraries Facebook Page and YouTube channel, where they’ll be posting loads of nature-themed, fun ideas for taking care of our environment.
