Sandwich Quay was once a thriving and busy port but is now about two miles from the coastline and used by small leisure boats for day trips up and down the River Stour. The picturesque Cinque Port town of Sandwich is a short stroll from the Quay with interesting architecture, shops and refreshments. Interpretation boards provide visitors with a wealth of information about the historic town. The Quay has pleasant open spaces for picnics, and a fenced children’s play area. The White Cliffs Country Trail and the Stour Valley Walk pass through the Quay towards the coast, and well marked paths also link the Quay to the circular Old Town Walls walk around Sandwich.
