Oare has long been dependent on the Swale, with a tradition of boatbuilding and fishing based on its banks, while the marshes which edge it are a vital nature reserve for flocks of migrating birds.

Fantastic views across the Isle of Harty and the Greater Thames Estuary await you on this walk and the marshes to your left are a sweep of marsh plants and soaring migratory birds.

Your trek through the marshes will lead you back towards Oare and glorious views back across The Swale and across to the Isle of Sheppey Bridge.

Nearby Faversham is well worth a visit at the end of your walk. Stroll through the streets of the historic town and discover the home of Shepherd Neame, Britain’s oldest brewery.
