Opened in 1928, Kingsnorth Gardens is a peaceful oasis of formal gardens planned in a mixture of Italianate, Oriental and English styles, which is lovingly maintained to a very high standard.
The 3.2 acre site, enclosed by trees all around, features an extensive rose garden with pergolas at its western end, while a collection of lawns and formal ponds (complete with fountains, water lilies and goldfish) make up its centre, dominated by the beautiful weeping ash tree that serves as a stunning centrepiece.
The eastern end of the garden is a mix of lawns, formal flower beds and Japanese Acers which show off their wonderful salmon pink foliage in spring.
Shaded paths bordered by an impressively diverse array of ornamental trees and shrubs skirt the gardens all around, whilst various statues and an oriental lantern can also be found.
A great place to meet friends or to stroll around enjoying the flowers, Kingsnorth Gardens is a much-loved refuge right in the middle of town.
