The Nature Reserve is edged on three sides by the river Stour and is a tranquil place for a quiet stroll. The footpaths around the reserve are unsurfaced but have had some improvements to make them more accessible to visitors with restricted mobility. Dogs are banned from the nature reserve which provides a safe roost for many birds in winter, and is home to a small collection of wildfowl that have had their wings clipped to stop them flying away. There is pay and display parking next the reserve.
