Getting Around Actively!

Just outside the town centre lies the Hythe and The Royal Military Canal, which gives you breathtaking views of Seabrook and West Hythe Dam. As well as uncovering the unique military monument, at the canal you can admire and watch the thriving wildlife flourish in their habitat.

As well as the wonderful coastal cycling route, you can also explore the Coast to Cathedral route which explores leafy lanes, rolling hills and quaint country villages, as well as passing the historic Dover Castle and the striking Canterbury Cathedral. The perfect taste of Kent!

Explore the town centre on foot walking through the quaint cobbled streets and venture down to the Folkestone Harbour Arm, which offers a fantastic mix of fresh and local food, drink and entertainment.

Dungeness is where you can take a peaceful and tranquil headland stroll, admiring the stunning shingle scenery and the brisk coastal breeze. A walk along the promenade guarantees great views all the way to France, or you can visit the Lower Leas Coastal Park to take in the beautiful gardens.

Whether you’re a visitor or looking for an easier commute into work or school, you’ll find cyclists’ needs are well catered for in Folkestone. The town is a public transport hub, with good connections to other towns and villages across the district for the central bus station and train lines, Folkestone Central and Folkestone West, which you are easily able to get to and from major cities for work and school also!
