Best way to get around Ashford? By bike! with over 50km of safe traffic free cycle paths the majority of households  are within easy reach of the Train Station and town centre. National Route 18 is the spine of Ashford’s walking and cycling network through the Town linking Singleton in the West and Little Burton in the East. You could cycle to the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet  for a spot of bargain hunting and not have to worry about Saturday parking.

Think of the health benefits too! It’s one of the best physical and mental makeovers you can get – and it’s free! There is no need to sit in traffic jams, worry about being late or parking the car! In fact most journeys by bike will be a breeze during peak travel hours.

Although well known as an expanding urban area, much of the borough is made up of picturesque villages and stunning protected countryside including Romney Marsh, the North Downs and the High Weald.National Route 18 out of Ashford westward to Tenterden is well signed via quiet country roads and lanes. Anyone who thinks Kent is flat may well reconsider after the following the Wealdway to Tunbridge Wells . National Route 18 out of Ashford eastward to Wye is also well signed via quiet country roads and lanes however the route onto Canterbury can be hazardous and not recommended for the faint hearted, once you reach Chartham you can go all the way to Canterbury along the traffic free Great Stour Way.

Cycle Parking

Ashford International Station has excellent cycle parking facilities; the majority of these are located outside the domestic side of the station. A secure cycle compound with a swipe card entry system is available with capacity for 70 bicycles. In addition, 160 cycle stands are available to use free of charge, these are located in the same place.
