Coastal Gardens with Maroon Adventures
- 30 May 2026
- 10am - 2pm
- Birchington-on-Sea
Celebrate National Walking Month this May with a special coastal adventure from Maroon Adventures.
Join us at for a refreshing guided walk from Birchington-on-sea Station along Thanet’s stunning shoreline to the beautiful Sunken Garden in Westbrook. Breathe in the sea air, connect with fellow walkers, and discover one of Margate’s hidden gems.
Nestled above the coast, the Sunken Garden is a remarkable historic space, originally created in 1932 and inspired by the elegance of Italian Baroque design. With its tiered pathways, colourful planting, sheltered seating and unique coastal setting, it offers a peaceful oasis by the sea. Lovingly restored by volunteers, this thriving community garden is a shining example of nature, heritage and local care.
As part of the day, enjoy a special workshop led by Pete Halsead, offering insight, inspiration and a deeper connection to this extraordinary place.
We’ll continue to Westbrook where we’ll share our Wilderness to Wonderland conversations—exploring how landscapes can transform, how communities shape places, and how nature, creativity and imagination can turn forgotten spaces into something truly extraordinary.
We’ll end the walk at Margate station or feel free to enjoy what Margate has to offer.
Whether you’re a seasoned walker or simply looking for a meaningful way to spend a spring morning, this is the perfect opportunity to explore, learn and connect.
This is not a wheel chair accessible event however other access requirements can be catered for. Please email for more details.
