Terms and Conditions
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before entering the competition. By submitting an entry, you agree to be bound by the following rules.
1. Organisers
This competition is run by Explore Kent in partnership with Explore Medway, Kent County Council, and Medway Council.
2. Eligibility
The competition is open to all ages and abilities.
Entrants must live, work, study in Medway — or have visited a green space in Medway.
Employees of Kent County Council and Medway Council may enter but are not eligible to win prizes.
Entrants under 18 must confirm their age when submitting.
Entrants under 16 must have a parent or guardian submit their entry on their behalf.
3. Entry Requirements
Each entrant may submit up to three photographs. All entries must:
- Be taken in 2025
- Clearly feature a green space in Medway (e.g. parks, woodlands, riversides, public gardens)
- Be original work taken by the entrant
- Not include identifiable people or faces
- Not contain political, controversial, or offensive content
- Not be AI-generated or heavily digitally manipulated
- Be submitted in JPEG or PNG format, minimum 1MB in size
4. How to Enter
Submit your first photo using the Google Form provided on the competition webpage.
If submitting more than one photo (up to three), email your additional image(s) to explorekent@kent.gov.uk with your full name and confirmation that you have completed the form.
5. Consent and Permissions
By submitting your entry, you:
- Confirm you have full rights to the image(s)
- Consent to Explore Kent and Explore Medway using and storing your image(s) for promotional purposes for up to 10 years
- Confirm you have followed all entry requirements – failure to do so means your entry cannot be accepted
- Agree that your name may be credited when your photo is used
6. Deadline
The competition closes at 11:59pm on Friday 28 November 2025.
Late entries will not be accepted.
7. Judging
Entries will be judged by a panel from Explore Kent and Explore Medway.
Judging will take place during the week commencing 1 December 2025.
Winners will be announced the following week via the Explore Kent website and social media channels.
Judging criteria include:
- Creativity and originality
- Composition and visual impact
- How well the photo captures and celebrates a green space in Medway
The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
8. Prizes
Prizes will be awarded as follows:
Main Prizes
- 1st Place – £25 voucher + Brewery Tour for four at Shepherd Neame
- 2nd Place – £20 voucher + Afternoon Tea for two at Fort Amherst
- 3rd Place – £15 voucher
Under 16s Prize
- £20 voucher
Prizes are non-transferable and no cash alternatives will be offered.
9. Copyright and Usage
Entrants retain full copyright of their submitted photographs.
By entering, you grant Explore Kent and Explore Medway a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use your image(s) for promotional and archival purposes for up to 10 years.
This includes use on websites, social media, printed materials, and other marketing channels.
10. Data Protection
Personal data will be handled in accordance with UK GDPR and Kent County Council’s privacy policies.
